Nebraska Growing Readers is designed to create access to relevant books for all children birth to age five, regardless of location within the state. Before this decade ends, NGR aims to transform the literacy landscape of our state and aspires to cultivate a love of reading in communities by fostering an early love for books and shared reading.
It is well known that children learn to read through third grade, then they read to learn. With this investment we want to help more families give their children the best chance to succeed.

NGR Goals
Nebraska Growing Readers' initial goals are threefold for the state:
- Expand access to books for early care and education providers, with a goal of reaching 1,000 providers.
- Support the adoption of shared book reading in home, early care, and educational settings.
- Increase access to locally tailored content that reflects Nebraska’s diverse population.
