How to Use the NGR Library

The Nebraska Growing Readers Library offers books for young children that are written about topics related to local communities. You can click on the books below to hear them read aloud or to read them with your children.

The Nebraska Growing Readers Digital Library has a number of features that can enhance your reading experience:

  1. Narrated Books--When you open a book, you will see below the book an eye icon or a speaker icon. When you click the speaker icon, the page will be read aloud in the language indicated.
  2. A choice of languages--Some books can be read or narrated in more than one language. Click on the narration tab once you have opened the book and you may find that the book can be narrated in more than one language.
  3. Categorized shelves--Books are conveniently broken down into categories to help you find the types of books that interest your child.
  4. Nebraska specific books--We have a growing catalog of books written by Nebraskan authors and about topics related to the state. Look for the "Nebraska" categorized shelves.
  5. A search feature--If you want to find a specific title, you can use the search tab at the top of the library to quickly find the book you're looking for.
  6. Access to the entire Unite for Literacy collection--By clicking on the white and blue Unite for Literacy logo in the top left corner of the library, you can access the full collection of Unite books.

The short video below offers simple instructions on how to find what you need in the library and how to operate the functions you want to use.
